What we do at Hagley u3a
Our main event each month is our general meeting on the first Wednesday of the month. Here
you can catch up with friends, hear about the latest developments and sign up for any of the
trips and events our social committee have been planning. Most months there is also an
entertaining guest speaker, while other meetings might be given over to special events such as
our Christmas meal or our summertime ‘social’.
Special Interest Groups
Like most other u3a local groups we have a range of ‘special interest’ groups you can get
involved in. At present we have around fifteen special interest groups ranging from art
appreciation to science. Most groups meet once a month, usually in the home of the group
leader, although other venues are used where appropriate. Each group is totally independent
and arranges its own programme. If you have a particular skill or knowledge you would like to
share, why not think about organizing your own special interest group?
Other trips and events
Our hard-working social committee is always investigating new ideas for day trips and visits to
local places of interest. National Trust properties and gardens ,of course, are always popular,
but some of our most over-subscribed trips have been to locations of more serious intent, such
as local food banks and recycling centres. And our annual Christmas wreath-making workshops
are becoming something of an institution. Your suggestions for further events will always be
welcome.

You can come to a couple of meetings free of charge before you decide to join. Membership is
just £12.50 for the year, or £8.50 if you are already a member of another u3a local group. Just
ask for a membership form from our team at the welcome desk or download a form from the
Links page and bring it with you.
